Dell has entered the budget gaming laptop market with a new contender: the Alienware 15. The question on everyone's mind is whether this device represents genuine value or if Dell has simply slapped its premium brand name onto a chassis that cuts too many corners to keep costs down. After spending time with the machine, it becomes clear that while there are some pleasant surprises regarding thermals and battery life, significant compromises hold it back from being an automatic recommendation.

The device arrives in Alienware’s signature Nova Black finish. Up close, you can see a subtle metallic-like sheen to the plastic, but make no mistake—this entire laptop is constructed from plastic materials. Despite this, the build quality feels fairly sturdy during normal use. The rounded front edge provides a comfortable typing angle, and the chassis exhibits only minor flex if you push it out of your way.

The hinge mechanism is robust, with Dell claiming support for up to 20,000 open-and-close cycles. In practice, the lid lifts smoothly from the back when opened, requiring you to hold down the front edge initially before releasing it. This design ensures the lid goes all the way back without stressing the hinges, and fingerprints are visible but easily wiped away with a microfiber cloth.
